The freshwater king prawn, Scientific Name is Macrobrachium rosenbergii , (also known as the Giant River Prawn or Giant Freshwater King Prawn), is a commercially important species of palaemonid freshwater prawn. Bangladesh is considered one of the most suitable countries globally for freshwater prawn (Golda chingri) due to its climatic conditions. It is found throughout the tropical and subtropical areas of the Indo-Pacific region, from Bangladesh and India to Southeast Asia and Northern Australia.
